Simon Davies, Project Manager at SSH, presented his research last week to the World Building Congress 2016, the biggest global research, development and innovation event of the year.
The International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB) World Building Congress has for several decades been the leading world conference with a focus on construction research and innovation. Academics, researchers, students, professionals, government officials, policy makers, practitioners, community groups, and NGOs were invited to report their research, related to multi-disciplinary perspectives on how the built environment can be made more sustainable, smart, safe and resilient. Topics included examples of design, planning, construction or process adaptations that have been undertaken to address the theme ‘intelligent built environment’ and smart cities.
Simon’s research examines how some of the industry’s leading project management (PM) practitioners manage their creative teams. The research uncovers complex factors which guide a creative project managers actions. In his paper he presents a simple framework for how PMs can support the conditions required to cultivate creativity and enable design teams to thrive. This framework is presented as a practical and intuitive tool to supplement Construction-Industry Design and Project Manager’s toolkits.
