Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Officer with over 10 years of professional experience to oversee and manage the environmental aspects of a comprehensive housing project, which includes residential buildings, schools, and district infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations, promoting sustainability initiatives, and working collaboratively with various stakeholders to implement best practices in environmental management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor environmental management systems (EMS) and plans for the housing project, ensuring alignment with national and local environmental standards.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA), and oversee environmental audits, risk assessments, and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to integrate sustainable practices into the design, construction, and operational phases of residential and district projects.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, such as waste management, water quality, air emissions, and energy efficiency, throughout all phases of the project.
• Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and community groups to secure necessary environmental permits and approvals, as well as to address environmental concerns.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior environmental officers and staff to ensure that environmental practices are consistently followed.
• Monitor and manage construction impacts on the environment, including site erosion, pollution control, and natural resource conservation.
• Prepare detailed reports on environmental performance, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives for internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead training programs for contractors and staff on environmental management practices, health and safety regulations, and sustainable construction techniques.
• Champion the use of green building technologies and facilitate certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, or equivalent, where applicable.
• Address public and community concerns related to environmental impacts and sustainability goals.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental management, ideally in construction, housing, or urban development projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations, such as waste management, air and water quality standards, and environmental impact assessments.
• Experience working on large-scale housing projects with residential buildings and district-level planning.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing environmental policies, risk assessments, and compliance strategies.
• Knowledge of sustainable building practices and experience with green certification systems (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
• Experience with environmental monitoring systems, data collection, and reporting tools.
• Proficient in environmental software tools and MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in LEED, BREEAM, or other recognized green building certifications.
• Proven experience in managing environmental sustainability initiatives within urban development or construction projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to complex project requirements.
• Experience working with government agencies and community groups.
