Role Overview
Reporting to the Discipline Lead – Interior, the Interior Design Lead is responsible for leading and managing a design team across projects of varying scale and complexity. The role involves planning, organising, coordinating, and delivering high-quality interior design solutions throughout all project stages, ensuring design excellence and successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage an interior design team through all project design stages.
• Serve as the primary client point of contact for all design-related matters within assigned projects.
• Act as design coordinator, contributing to overall design management and ensuring alignment across disciplines.
• Oversee integrated design delivery across the full project lifecycle, from concept through construction documentation and execution.
• Ensure design excellence, quality assurance, and timely delivery of project documentation.
• Manage and integrate BIM processes, promoting innovative methodologies and workflow improvements.
• Lead multiple projects simultaneously, including multifamily residential, hospitality, and corporate office developments.
• Allocate work effectively within the team and manage submission processes to meet deadlines and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and contribute to design manuals, standard documentation, presentations, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance efficiency and design consistency.
• Support risk management processes, scope definition, and scope interface coordination.
• Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, authorities, and stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, promoting professional growth and knowledge sharing within the department.
• Supporting teams with technical knowledge, detailing and specifications.
Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
• Strong and well-developed interior design capabilities.
• Proven experience delivering projects of appropriate scale and complexity.
• Comprehensive knowledge of statutory authority requirements, building codes, regulations, and submission procedures.
• Sound understanding of risk management, scope definition, and coordination interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of materials, finishes, suppliers, and procurement processes.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and Sustainable Design principles.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritise, delegate tasks, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability.
