Job Description
Strategic Leadership & Governance
• Serve as the escalation point for BIM issues between SSH and the Client/PMC, ensuring timely resolution of deliverable or compliance disputes.
• Leads the progressive alignment of SSH BIM practices with international best practice frameworks such as ISO 19650, adapting them pragmatically to suit SSH’s delivery model and client requirements.
• Assist the Digital Transformation Director in achieving consistent implementation of company-approved BIM policies and tool platforms at the project level, ensuring the standardized use of systems such as ACC, BIM 360, and Navisworks across all projects.
• Report on overall BIM delivery health and standard compliance to the Design Management Director and Digital Transformation Director.
Project Delivery Support & Performance Monitoring
• Maintain portfolio-level visibility of BIM delivery performance across all active projects.
• Review project BIM health outcomes (progress, quality, risks) as reported by Digital Delivery Managers and BIM Managers.
• Perform independent spot checks and audits to validate reported BIM performance and compliance.
• Identify systemic delivery risks or recurring issues and escalate them to the Digital Transformation Director.
• Provide governance-level guidance on complex digital delivery matters when escalation is required.
• Support Project and Design Management leadership by providing assurance statements on BIM readiness at key stage-gates.
• Capture cross-project lessons learned and recommend corrective or improvement actions at a methodology or standards level.
Standards Implementation & Quality Assurance
• Audit projects for adherence to SSH BIM Manual, CDE protocols, and LOD/LOIN matrices.
• Validate that Client or Authority digital requirements are implemented without compromising SSH standards.
• Coordinate with QA/QC team to integrate digital audit results into design quality reports.
• Lead internal “Digital Readiness Reviews” at key project stages to provide assurance on model and information integrity.
• Assess, approve, and document justified deviations or exceptions to SSH BIM standards.
• Analyse audit outcomes and quality trends across projects to drive continuous improvement of standards and processes.
Capability Development & Mentorship
• Coach and mentor project BIM Managers and Coordinators on best-practice BIM delivery approaches, governance expectations, and professional development.
• Identify training needs and coordinate with Digital Transformation Director and LMS to deliver targeted upskilling sessions.
• Promote continuous improvement by supporting knowledge-sharing sessions and post-project digital reviews.
• Support recruitment and competency assessment of BIM Managers and Coordinators.
• Monitor and assess BIM capability maturity across projects and disciplines to inform training priorities and succession planning.
• Ensure lessons learned and best practices are embedded into standards, guidance, and training materials.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
• Oversee and review dashboards summarising BIM delivery status, KPIs, and audit outcomes across active projects.
• Provide monthly summary reports to Digital Director and Project Delivery leadership.
• Recommend process or standard updates to the Digital COE based on recurring project issues.
• Ensure BIM lessons learned and innovation outcomes are documented and disseminated through appropriate digital and knowledge-sharing channels.
• Identify and escalate systemic BIM delivery risks or recurring non-compliance trends to Digital and Project Delivery leadership.
Automation & Digital Enablement Oversight (with ROI)
• Define governance principles and priorities for design automation, parametric modelling, and computational workflows (e.g. Dynamo, Grasshopper, Python) in alignment with SSH standards and delivery objectives.
• Identify and prioritise high-impact automation use cases across projects based on delivery efficiency, quality improvement, risk reduction, and resource optimisation.
• Govern automation initiatives in coordination with Digital Enablement specialists, ensuring solutions are standardised, documented, reusable, and aligned with SSH BIM standards.
• Oversee quality assurance and risk management of automation-driven outputs to ensure reliability and consistency.
• Evaluate and report on return on investment (ROI) and realised benefits of automation initiatives, and escalate low-value or high-risk initiatives to Digital leadership.
• Identify opportunities where AI can accelerate modelling, QA, documentation, clash resolution, rendering, and data extraction.
Technology Adoption & Innovation Governance
• Evaluate emerging BIM, AI, and digital design technologies for applicability to SSH projects.
• Define controlled adoption pathways (pilot → standard → scale) for new tools and workflows.
• Ensure new technologies are integrated without compromising governance, quality, or security.
• Act as the gatekeeper for approving new digital tools used in project BIM delivery.
Bids & Commercial Governance (Digital / BIM)
• Provide selective oversight and guidance on BIM scope, effort, and risk for priority or high-value bids.
• Ensure lessons learned from project delivery are reflected in bid narratives, scope definitions, and commercial assumptions.
• Assess potential risks and provide mitigation strategies throughout the bidding process to improve proposal quality and competitiveness.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Strategic & Leadership
Strong leadership and mentoring of BIM Managers; ability to align digital strategy with project delivery; acts as SSH’s escalation point for BIM and CDE issues; confident in client-facing discussions.
Technical & Delivery
Deep BIM delivery expertise (Revit, Navisworks, ACC); advanced knowledge of ISO 19650, BEP/MIDP/TIDP, and LOD/LOIN; ensures governance and consistency of modelling, coordination, and information workflows across projects.
Coordination & Communication
Excellent communicator and integrator between PM, DM, and BIM teams; maintains cross-project consistency; oversees and reviews digital KPIs, clash performance trends, and audit health.
Behavioral & Analytical
Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive; adaptable to different client frameworks; capable of resolving delivery challenges efficiently and diplomatically.
Capability & Improvement
Promotes best practice and standardization across all projects; mentors teams, supports and coordinates digital training initiatives, and channels lessons learned into continuous improvement.
Automation & Digital Enablement
Strong understanding of BIM automation principles; able to prioritise initiatives, assess return on investment (ROI), and govern automation efforts to ensure scalable, compliant, and value-driven outcomes.
• 10–15 years BIM experience, including 5+ in multi-project leadership.
• Expert in ISO 19650, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Navisworks, and model audits.
• Strong communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Recognized authority in BIM delivery and quality assurance across all design stages.
