Kuwaiti causeway project wins infrastructure award

The Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah Causeway – Main Link was honoured when it received the Special Award for an Infrastructure Project for the Year 2017, by the Kuwaiti Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) on 7 May at its annual banquet event.

Project owner the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transportation was presented with the award.

As the local construction supervision consultant on the project, SSH was also directly recognised with a Certificate of Excellence award for work carried out on the scheme, which was presented to Khaled El Khoury, Managing Director of Project and Construction Management at SSH.

SSH was appointed in joint venture with Dar Al Handasah to provide design review and construction supervision consultancy services by the Kuwait Ministry of Public Works on the highway route.

The main causeway link stretches across Kuwait Bay linking the Shuwaikh Port area on the south side of the bay to the Subiyah New Town area to the north. The total length of the main causeway is 36km, of which 27km is a marine bridge structure.
