SSH Partners with BIG on A’Thuraya City Phase III, Oman

Urban October 2026 brought together industry leaders, government representatives and built environment professionals for four days of networking, insightful discussions and collaboration in Muscat. For SSH, the event provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas and explore the future of urban development across the Sultanate.

A key highlight was the announcement by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Planning of BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) as the winning design consultant for A’Thuraya City Phase III, with SSH partnering with BIG on this landmark project overlooking Greater Muscat. Designed around the natural slopes of the land, the city offers a rare balance: direct connection to the capital with a sense of calm, openness, and immersion in nature.

As part of the project team, SSH will provide multidisciplinary engineering expertise, infrastructure design and authority coordination to support the delivery of the master plan. SSH will also take the lead as Executive Master Planner during the detailed infrastructure design and construction procurement stages, while BIG retains overall design oversight.

The appointment marks a significant milestone for SSH in Oman, reinforcing its continued contribution to the Sultanate’s urban development and tourism ambitions.
