SSH Returned to RAK for AHIC 2019
09/04/2019
The SSH team, led by CEO Matt Squires, and the SSH Mini Studio returned to the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC), held at the Waldorf Astoria, Ras Al Khaimah.
Running from 9-11 April 2019, delegates focused on insights shared by world-class speakers, improved existing relationships and discovered new business opportunities. This year’s AHIC promised to be bigger and better that 2018’s event, and for SSH it certainly delivered.
SSH’s Mini Studio with its unique ‘glass wall’ allowed our architects to sketch live designs, while demonstrating how sketches can be made tangible by transforming them using 3D printing technology. This tools greatly enhances architects’ ability to quickly produce scale representations of projects and enables practical experimentation with design ideas. The hi-tech demonstration created a buzz around our exhibition stand, allowing delegates to experience part of SSH’s design process firsthand.
Our Studio also received a royal seal of approval, as both Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and Oman’s Sheikh Salem Al Ghazali, Chairman of the Golden Group of Companies, stopped by to visit, speaking with Danny Warde, SSH’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Away from the Studio, onto the main stage, Director of Architecture, David Daniels, presented as part of Day One’s AHIC Day of Disruption. He encouraged thinking out of the box in terms of hospitality design and development in his talk, Designing the Future Hotel – Every Hotel Can and Should be a Design Hotel.
David also served double duty, as he moderated a separate panel discussion on Day Two, which examined sustainable architectural methods and materials, and discussed the long-term costs of projects from an investor viewpoint.
